Andrew McHugh

Working for a better tomorrow

I am currently a Governor of an SEND School and a trustee of several charities. I am also an associate lecturer with the University of Northampton. I am keen to use whatever skills and contacts I have for the benefit of the community.

I recently stood down as a Cherwell District Councillor where I was the lead member for Health & Wellbeing, Community Safety, Communities and much more besides. . Before this I was an officer in both the British and Omani armies. I have been a director of a manufacturing SME, Finance Controller of the Aga Khan Health Service, Tajikistan. I have a masters degree in Health Systems Management from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. For the 10 years leading up to my retirement in 2015 I was a practice manager of a large GP practice in Banbury.

Health has never been more important than now. I want to see children get a good start in life, then to live well and to age well and finally to die well. I want to fight against the ignorance peddled by antivax conspiracy theorists

I want to help communities to develop, to thrive and to become resilient.

We have some of the best police in the world. That does not happen by accident. I want to promote continued policing by consent, and to develop the policing leaders of tomorrow who will reflect our society and its core values

As an Armed Forces Veteran, I will continue to fight to ensure that those who gave so much for our country are not forgotten.
